Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) has an opening for a full-time, 10-month Staff Psychologist/Mental Health Clinician to join our diverse team of dedicated, collaborative, and fun professionals. This position is responsible for providing a full range of mental health services to graduate students at both Seton Hall University’s Law School and the main South Orange campus. The position requires a 35- hour work week, August through May and, includes a new, competitive salary range with a generous benefits package.

The Staff Psychologist/Mental Health Clinician functions as a member of a collaborative team and will provide intake assessments, both group and time-limited individual counseling, crisis intervention services and mental health programming to university students. The position involves frequent consultation with faculty and administrators regarding the well-being of students. While the principal focus of the position will be on providing direct services to law students, the clinician will also be an essential part of the larger CAPS team. The Staff Psychologist/Mental Health participates in the department’s doctoral training program, will engage in ongoing professional development and participate in weekly case conference/consultation meetings with the CAPS staff at the main campus. The Staff Psychologist/Mental Health Clinician is a critical part of the department’s services delivery and of the academic success of the many university’s law students who seek CAPS services.

The position supports the department’s and the University’s strategic initiative and commitment to providing an inclusive and supportive environment for all community members. The role requires possession of strong clinical skills, ability to work independently, a demonstrated commitment to working effectively from a multicultural framework, the ability to manage a full client caseload, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Intake assessments

• Individual and Group Counseling/Therapy

• In-person and tele-mental health services

• Consultation with staff, faculty, and students

• Case Management

• Crisis Intervention

• Outreach and Prevention Programming

• Participation in graduate training program

Required Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology with 2-3 years of relevant experience, and Licensed or license eligible as a Psychologist in New Jersey

• Master’s degree and licensed as a Clinical Social Worker with 3-5 years of relevant experience

• Demonstrated competence in time-limited individual psychotherapy as well as group counseling with diverse populations

• Proven ability and commitment to working within a multiculturally responsive and inclusive counseling lens and successful experience in provision of psychological services to underrepresented and marginalized groups

• Demonstrated competence in outreach and prevention program planning and implementation

• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and ability to function independently

• Demonstrated understanding of the challenges and stressors facing graduate and professional students

• Understanding of and willingness to support the Seton Hall University Catholic Mission.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience in college/university counseling specifically providing clinical services to graduate students

• Prior experience or training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

• Specific areas of expertise and experience relevant to a diverse college student population

Licenses and Certificates:
