invites applications for a

Graduate Program Academic Advisor II

. This position will work with the COB administration, faculty and staff to ensure students successful completion of the graduate programs. The College of Business offers the only MBA program in Montana, one of the first Masters of Science in Business Analytics programs in the region and the only AACSB accredited Masters of Accountancy in the state. The position will require working with a diverse population of graduate students that are completing their programs on campus or though the flexible delivery model. This is a 10-month staffing position.

Responsibilities include:

Strategic, individualized advising of students in all College of Business graduate programs and certificates, ensuring successful program retention and completion.

Base knowledge of CPA Standards, as advised by the CPA licensure and Program Director.

Ability to work with diverse population of students and develop an understanding of their academic needs.

Collaborate with UM Graduate School, College of Business Gianchetta Student Success Center and the registrar's office regarding program requirements, transfer credits, substitutions and registration.

Work directly with students regarding academic standings, course management and university procedures.

Responsible for the creation and maintenance of advising-related materials and website content.

Manage current student communications.

Maintain student database / CRM (HubSpot).

Assist Graduate Program Manager and COB Event Manager with graduate event planning.

Required Skills

Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with students, staff, faculty and administration.

Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and listening and feedback skills.

Knowledge in the use of computer software programs, including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.

Ability to listen and demonstrate patience in determining student situations and how best to effectively support and provide critical, accurate, consistent and timely information.

Ability to work with diverse groups of individuals and create and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to work independently while providing attention to detail and accurate record keeping.

Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work demands.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Ability to evaluate various student transcripts.

Minimum Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in academic advising
