Mercy is seeking an experienced Genetic Counselor to join our Department of OB/GYN at Mercy Hospital St. Louis!

 

Overview:

  • Provide genetic counseling to patients and families and assist with coordination of clinical genetic testing. 
  • The genetic counselor will provide genetic counseling to patients and families and assist with coordination of clinical genetic testing. 
  • The clinical focus of this position is primarily pediatric genetics, but may include some adult genetics and hereditary cancer.
  • They will serve as a resource to health care providers and support staff regarding genetic testing. 
  • Participating in the laboratory utilization management efforts is part of this effort to provide support to the hospital in general in relationship to genetic testing.
  • This position includes primarily in-person genetic counseling as well as telehealth opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Masters degree in Genetic Counseling required.
  • Licensure: Board certification or Board eligible for American Board of Genetic Counselors. Once hired, board eligible individuals are expected to sit for and pass the exam within the first year of employment.
